The Word That’s Changing My Life (and Can Change Yours Too)

Read time - minutes

Happy new Year!

I’m not one for new year’s resolutions nor “word for the year”.

2024 hit me like a hurricane, so I’ve reached the conclusion

I CANNOT continue at the same pace.

Losing a few friends in their 40’s to sudden deaths has been an eye-opener.

Being an A-type personality, OCD and compulsive multi-tasker, has wiped me out over the last year.

In the frantic weeks leading up to Christmas, my inner voice kept whispering to me “Claudia, you need to simplify”. I kept ignoring it, until the inner voice moved from whispering to screaming.

So here we are, my word for 2025 is SIMPLIFY.

Here’s how I’m embracing it in my life, business, and midlife journey – and how you can too.

This is about freedom, clarity, and focus. Let’s break it down.

  1. Entrepreneurship: Simplify for Impact.

Running a business doesn’t mean doing everything.

It means doing the RIGHT things and avoid doing everything else..

This year, I’m cutting the fluff:

  • Clearer offers.
  • Streamlined systems.
  • Protected focussed work and time blocking
  • Focus on measuring effort inputs, not vanity metrics
  • Saying NO to clients, projects, or distractions that don’t align.

As Bruce Lee said: “It is not the daily increase but daily decrease. Hack away at the unessential.”

Focus on what matters most.

  1. Motherhood: Simplify the Chaos.

Being a parent means juggling 24/7

But what if we stopped glorifying being “busy”?

This year, I’m:

  • Creating simpler routines
  • Delegating more household tasks
  • Eliminating tasks that aren’t essential*
  • Letting go of “some” of the mum guilt when I can’t do it all.

As Oprah says – “You can have it all, just not all at once.”

My objective: Not running myself to the ground trying to live an Instagramable life.

We eliminated some children clubs, xmas cards and other tasks, in the hope this will bring some calm to the household.

  1. Marriage: Simplify the Connection.

Relationships thrive on simplicity and daily rhythms.

They require communication, love, and time.

This year, I’m focusing on:

  • Date nights without distractions.
  • Honest conversations without overcomplicating emotions.
  • Prioritizing time together, even if it’s just a coffee or a walk in the woods

“Love is not complicated. It’s people who make it so.”

My husband and I have committed to  6 months of date nights – babysitters and restaurants booked.

No excuses.

  1. Fitness: Simplify my Routine.

In 2024 I didn’t work on my fitness goals.

I believe this deeply messed up my mind.

It also fucked up my pull up capacity!

2025 is the year of the 2x bodyweight deadlift and 1.5x squat

Here’s how I’m making it happen:

  • Outdoor walks 5 x a week for mental clarity
  • Back to tracking my macros
  • 4 weightlifting /week
  • 1-2 Crossfit a week

“The groundwork of all happiness is health.

Here’s to a year of clarity, freedom, and impact.

I hope this has given you at least one take away you can implement to simplify your life in 2025. As the great  Leonardo da Vinci said “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”

I would love to hear from you on ONE action you will take to simplify your 2025 (just hit reply and let me know).

It is always helpful to inspire each other.

Onwards and upwards,

Claudia
