“Coaches & Consultants: If you needed $100k and you had 90 days to make it online what would you do and/or create?”
And I nearly lost my marbles. I counted to ten before responding:
“I would NOT. If I needed 100k I would NEVER go online first. I’d tap my network. You can make this from ONE corporate relationship. I’ve done it many times.”
That, my friends, is the truth almost no one wants to admit. The fastest path to revenue is rarely online.

Why Online Glorification is a Trap
In Justin Welsh’s “Unsubscribed” group, someone asked how people got their first client. Not one person said “online.” Every answer? “Through my network.”
Online income gets glorified like it’s the promised land. But unless you already have a personal brand machine humming, you’re fighting a war on too many fronts.
Courses, PDFs, funnels, they can all work, but not as your Day 1 revenue plan.
And let’s not forget: numbers without context are just smoke.
The Mirage of Money Headlines
What is $100k in 90 days? What is 7 figures a month or 6 figures a month? What the hell does that even mean? The grass is always greener, but without context these numbers are just a bunch of baloney.
A person running a business that makes $1M a month might:
- Spend $600k+ on payroll and contractors just to deliver the work
- Drop $150k–$200k on ad spend to keep leads flowing
- Grind at a pace that would wreck your health, marriage, or both
- Manage a team of 15–20 people instead of running the lean solo practice you dream of
So that shiny “7-figure month” screenshot could actually mean the founder takes home less than a well-paid corporate VP and with ten times the stress. Be careful what you wish for, because it may not align with the life you actually want.
This is why context is queen. Money only matters when you know what’s behind it and whether it fits your freedom plan.
The Reality Check Math (a love letter to context)
Here’s what the internet gurus forget to mention:
- Average website conversion rates hover at 2–3%. That means 97 people out of 100 leave without buying.
- Cart abandonment? ~70% globally. Picture 3 out of 4 people walking out of Target leaving their basket by the door.
- Survival stats: nearly 50% of small businesses fail within 5 years. Context matters.
Now, let’s run the 90-day $100k fantasy math:
- $17 offer → 5,883 orders → with a 2% conversion rate, that’s ~294,000 site visits
- $97 offer → 1,031 orders → ~51,550 site visits
- $399 offer → 251 orders → ~12,550 site visits
And if you’re running ads? At ~$5 CPC , the $97 play would cost half a million in ad spend to break even. Let that sink in.
This is why network-first is not just sensible but actually sane.
So What Do You Offer Instead?
Start with what you’re already paid to do. Money is already exchanging hands.
- Fractional CXO services – embedded in a team without the full-time contract
- Consulting – strategic guidance, not always implementation
- Coaching – guiding clients to results (they do the work)
- DFY/DWY services – implementation or co-creation
That’s how you create bankable offers fast.
